March 2022 Update
Greetings, all! It’s been a while since we had a more formal update; I suppose we’ve been recovering from your end of year generosity! We want to share with you updates about our upcoming medical mission trip and talk a little bit about the philosophy behind what we do.
- Dr. Mike
As for the trip, we will be heading back to Kampala the first week of May to hold our first outreach clinic since spring of 2019! We are very excited to get back in country, to reconnect face to face with our ministry partners, and to be able to reach out to the community with medicine and the good news about Jesus once. Our team is a little smaller this time, consisting of 11 US members, but we still plan to host 3 days of clinics and hold a marriage seminar for local married couples. Thanks to our Ugandan partners, we will even be improving on the way we acquire medications for these clinics, so that there will be no waste or leftovers. Instead of purchasing an excess of medications as in years past, we will be leveraging our relationships with local pharmacists to enable us to return any unused drugs to the pharmacy after our outreach is complete.
This improvement is very much in line with our philosophy, which is to support ongoing work in Uganda. We desire to come alongside existing ministry and use our gifts to assist and extend what is already in place. That concept applies to everything we do, from partnering with local churches to help spread the Gospel, to joining with local physicians to provide year-round medical care, to purchasing as much of what we need as possible from local suppliers in order to support the local economy. Even the bags we will use to dispense our medications at this year’s clinic will be made by individuals who have received training in handcrafts through H3 Uganda’s ministry! Our desire is to maximize the Gospel impact of local churches while minimizing our distraction from currently ongoing work, so that every area of our service supports organizations that are already on the ground.
We hope you will join us in this work! Would you consider partnering with us? We are always in need of your prayers! We also are looking for regular, monthly donations of any size that will allow us to continue educating, training, treating, and feeding those in need.
