April 2020 Update

Under normal circumstances, we would be doing our last minute packing, starting our malaria pills, and getting ready to leave on Friday.

However... these are not normal circumstances!

Our trip has been delayed indefinitely, as the United States faces its pandemic peak next week, and Uganda struggles to control the early stages of virus spread. We have decided on a new trip date, but our team has been able to put our plane tickets on hold or receive a full refund. For now, we are sheltering in place in our respective corners of the world.

As Ugandans face the approach of Covid-19, they have the benefit of having planned for epidemics such as Ebola. However, the economic consequences of sheltering at home for subsistence workers are severe. We're exploring ways to best support our Ugandan team members over the next few weeks, as they serve their communities.

H3 clinic manager Esther has written us from Kampala:

We are praying for you. Would you pray for us? We are in total lockdown. We are asking the Lord for mercy... We will survive by God's grace. He promised to never leave us or forsake us.

Esther has already been able to use and disperse some of the medications and supplies left over from the clinic last year. She and her family are pictured below (Esther is in blue).

We are able to move funds more quickly to Uganda now that we have a H3 counterpart nonprofit set up in country. If you would like to give to support our Ugandan partners during this time, click the button below.

How can we be praying?

  • Pray for team members Heather and Alberto in Madrid, Spain, who are in lockdown and whose country is suffering

  • Pray for team members Joel and Nada in India, who are concerned for their health and the health of their neighbors

  • Pray for safety for our team health care workers who must deal with increased exposure to Covid-19

  • Pray for our Ugandan friends, who seek to be a light for Christ in the midst of crisis
